Kenichi Sasakawa
Born in Kanagawa in 1981, Kenichi Sasakawa is a Japanese glass artist who lives and works in Kyoto, Japan. He holds a master’s degree of Ceramics, Glass and Metal from the Tama Art University.
After graduating from the university, he trained Kanazawa Utatsuyama Crafts Studio and learned about glass not as an art piece but as a craft. His simple glass works with blue-gray colour and small bubbles have exquisite beauty and unique texture, which stop us to see and touch the works. Although his works give a sharp and modern impression at first glance, their unique fluctuations also give a sense of the warmth of a craft that blend into ordinary life.
He also creates art pieces made of glass, expanding his range of expression beyond crafts. His work has attracted attention both domestically and internationally, and many exhibitions are held in Japan, Asia, and other countries every year.
